Marvel’s Wolverine Launches Worldwide, Exclusively on PlayStation 5

The wait is finally over. Marvel’s Wolverine is now available worldwide on PlayStation 5, giving fans the chance to step into the boots of one of Marvel’s most iconic characters.

Developed by Insomniac Games, the studio behind the acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man series, Marvel’s Wolverine takes a different approach from Insomniac’s previous superhero adventures. Instead of swinging through an open-world city, players are thrown into a more focused, brutal and personal journey built around Logan’s unique abilities, personality and history.

A New Chapter for Logan

Marvel’s Wolverine follows an original story centered on James “Logan” Howlett as he becomes involved in a dangerous conflict involving mutants and those determined to eliminate them.

The adventure takes players across several locations, including the frozen wilderness of Canada, the streets of Tokyo and the island nation of Madripoor. Along the way, Logan encounters familiar faces from the Marvel universe while confronting enemies and parts of his own past.

Insomniac has described the game as a deeply personal story exploring themes of identity, loyalty and Logan’s struggle with his violent nature.

Wolverine’s Combat Takes Center Stage

If there is one thing Marvel’s Wolverine had to get right, it was the claws.

Combat is designed around close-range aggression, allowing players to combine Wolverine’s adamantium claws with kicks, attacks, counters and special abilities. Logan can build Rage during combat, giving players opportunities to unleash even more powerful attacks.

His famous Healing Factor also plays an important role. Wolverine can take enormous amounts of punishment before recovering and getting back into the fight, reinforcing the feeling that players are controlling a character who simply refuses to stay down.

The game also introduces different Techniques and Adaptations, allowing players to adjust Wolverine’s abilities and develop a combat style that suits them.

A More Brutal Wolverine

Marvel’s Wolverine is noticeably more violent than Insomniac’s Spider-Man games, fitting the character and his history.

The game features blood, destruction and dismemberment during combat, while players can also customize certain violence and language settings. Insomniac has also included more than 100 accessibility features, covering areas such as visual, audio, cognitive and motor assistance.

The result is a Wolverine experience that feels much closer to the character's brutal side while still giving players control over how they experience the game.

A Single-Player Adventure Built Exclusively for PS5

Marvel’s Wolverine is a single-player, narrative-driven action-adventure game created specifically for PlayStation 5. It does not follow the open-world structure of Marvel’s Spider-Man, instead focusing on a cinematic journey with tightly designed environments and set pieces.

The PS5 hardware also plays a major role in the experience. DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers are used to make Wolverine’s attacks feel more physical, while the console’s SSD helps keep movement between locations smooth.

Players can also expect features such as Mission Replay, Nightmare Challenges and Photo Mode, with New Game Plus providing another reason to return after completing the main story.
