Are you a Silent Hill fan who loves this iconic horror video game franchise? Well, buckle up, since Konami could be ready to bring back the original Silent Hill trilogy to new gaming platforms very soon.

The Recent PlayStation State of Play

The recent PlayStation State of Play event left fans both excited and anxious. The much-anticipated Silent Hill: The Short Message was revealed, offering players a free PlayStation 5 exclusive experience.

The game explored a mysterious and haunting apartment block tied to rumors of multiple suicides. However, it wasn't just the new title that caught everyone's attention; the event also provided a glimpse into the gameplay of the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake developed by the Bloober Team.

The Silent Hill 2 remake stirred up quite a storm within the Silent Hill community, with fans expressing concerns about the remake's faithfulness to the original. The combat reveal in the recent trailer has sparked debates among fans.

In response, Konami might be considering a move to make sure that players who prefer the classic Silent Hill controls are happy by bringing the original trilogy to modern platforms.

The Involvement of HEXADRIVE

In an intriguing interview uploaded to the official Silent Hill YouTube channel, Rika Miyatani who is the level design director at HEXADRIVE, revealed Konami’s initial plan.

It appears that Konami had approached HEXADRIVE to help port the original Silent Hill trilogy to current-gen platforms. However, the studio decided that a remake would be the way to go.

Miyatani and HEXADRIVE went all out and prepared a production-quality mock-up demo for the Silent Hill 2 remake. Unfortunately, plans for this particular remake did not materialize.

Therefore, HEXADRIVE shifted its focus to Silent Hill: The Short Message, while the Bloober Team took charge of the Silent Hill 2 remake project.

What does the Future Hold for the Silent Hill Trilogy?

The future of the original Silent Hill trilogy ports remains uncertain, as Miyatani did not disclose if another studio took up the task.

Nevertheless, the interview suggests that Konami is actively exploring ways to make the Silent Hill series accessible on current-gen platforms. We can see that through new games, remakes, or ports of the classic games.

For those eagerly awaiting the next Silent Hill installment, the interview provided an update on Silent Hill F, which is a brand-new title with a scenario crafted by none other than the famous Ryukishi07.

With these developments, it seems like the franchise is ready to welcome both old and new players alike.
