Mortal Shell II is a standalone sequel to Mortal Shell that significantly expands on the original with faster and more unforgiving combat, deeper weapon design with extensive upgrade options, and an emphasis on free exploration within a compact open world. Developed by Cold Symmetry and published by Playstack, Mortal Shell II is an action RPG built for PlayStation 5.

Take control of the Harbinger, a being tasked with reclaiming the Undermether's stolen eggs, which are guarded by grotesque and dangerous creatures. Across the game's interconnected world, you'll discover the corpses of exceptional warriors and possess their bodies, awakening their innate strengths and mastered abilities. Each warrior provides a different way to approach combat and progression.

Mortal Shell II's world is designed around exploration, with winding paths connecting ruined temples, forbidden forests, icy graves and citadels carved from bone. Exploration can lead to additional warriors, story elements, weapons, upgrades and other discoveries.

Combat is built around an agile and expressive system. Stamina gauges have been removed, while execution options have been enhanced to create a faster, more kinetic combat experience. Weapons feature extensive upgrade options, allowing you to develop your own approach to the game's high-stakes encounters.

Story

You play as the Harbinger, a being who must reclaim the Undermether's stolen eggs, now ruthlessly guarded by grotesque and dangerous creatures.

The destroyed world is filled with the remains of exceptional warriors. Discovering these bodies allows the Harbinger to possess them, awakening their individual strengths and abilities. Exploring the world and uncovering lost memories helps reveal the secrets behind these warriors.
